ROCK CLIMBING, RAPPELLING AMONG OUTDOOR PURSUITS IN HOCKING HILLS

OUTDOOR ADVENTURES HELP VISITORS SCALE RUGGED CLIFFS

LOGAN, Ohio – Leisurely hikes along the trails of southeast Ohio’s Hocking Hills State Park, Sunday drives through the stunning countryside, a round of golf on rugged hilly terrain and three-course gourmet candlelight dinners have long been popular ways to relax in the Hocking Hills region.

But now adventure in the Hocking Hills has soared to new heights.

Earth-Water-Rock Outdoor Adventures Ltd. now offers guided rock climbing, rappelling and backpacking expeditions for visitors who want the ultimate adventure experience while visiting the Hocking Hills.  Rock climbing and rappelling lessons and trips are available for all ages and skill levels, with 100-foot climbs above the treetops of the scenic Hocking Hills State Park available for veteran climbers.

Earth-Water-Rock also offers canoe and kayak lessons and trips for all ages and skill levels. Classes range from a half-day course that emphasizes safety, enjoyment and basic paddle skills to a two-day course that introduces the skills needed to canoe or kayak on moving water – all at an affordable cost. Visitors looking to experience the Hocking Hills under the stars can take advantage of overnight canoe trips and can even extend their trip for several days.

Touch The Earth Adventures, another Hocking Hills guide and outfitter, offers kayaking, backpacking, hiking and other excursions.  Touch the Earth also features spirituality hikes, dog hikes and retreats designed to help women to become in tune with nature through outdoor activities.

Three canoe liveries offer even more wild ways for visitors to experience the beauty of the Hocking Hills region.  Most offer some totally unusual trips, including nature and moonlight outings, and even torchlight canoe trips complete with live entertainment, such as Appalachian folk music or an opera singer.  Other adventures in the Hocking Hills include horseback riding, exploring caves, hiking, bird watching, and even wildlife photography workshops, with a number of outfitters offering organized tours, adventures and classes.

Hocking Hills adventures are made more complete with a stay in one of the region’s unique cabins, inns or hotels.  Reservations and complete information on accommodations and these and other Hocking Hills adventures, consumers can visit www.1800HOCKING.com or call toll-free, 1-800-HOCKING.
